Once a small family-owned dairy farm, the park is laced with two and one-half miles of nature trails. The land encompasses almost 150 acres of wooded hills and grassy fields bisected by streams, a two acre pond, wet meadows, and an upland swamp.
The site is a wonderful microcosm of a typical Connecticut landscape which provides sanctuary to many species of New England flora and fauna. A portion of the park has been dedicated to recreational fields including soccer, baseball, and softball, as well as several acres reserved for community gardening and a large playscape for younger children.
The area that borders the Raptor Woods Trail to the North and West is Quillinan Reservoir. That area allows hunting with a marked buffer/no hunting zone. During hunting season, wear bright colored clothing, even on properties that don’t allow hunting. A fluorescent orange vest or hat is recommended. Please review Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection's Outdoor Safety Tips.
Please adhere to all Park Rules and Regulations.
Visitors can park at 10 Deerfield Lane, where they will see the visitor center building, or at the end of Milan Street, which is a dead end parking lot, and where the Redwing Pond House is located.
