This route explores the Bolton Land Trust Blackledge Marsh Preserve and Freddo Family Preserve. This area forms the headwaters of the Blackledge River and is home to a wide variety of wildlife, birds, wildflowers, and other native plants. Old stone walls, former pastures, and fields reclaimed by nature, and relics of past excavation speak to centuries of history.
The Freddo Family Preserve was a gift commemorating generations of the Freddo Family who worked the land and built memories there.
Please respect private property just east of the Orange and Yellow trails.
This route includes two stream crossings which are normally easy. Do not attempt to cross in high water after a heavy rain.
Preserve is open from dawn to dusk.
Please do not block mailboxes or driveways when parking.
