Owen’s Mere was a gift to the trust from Charles A. and Mabel D. Owen. The main feature is the man made pond over one-half acre in size, created by an earthen dam on King’s Brook. The dam on the west side has had a large number of small and medium sized trees removed to preserve its integrity. Large rhododendrons growing somewhat back from the south shore were planted several years ago.
The trail and benches at Owen's Mere Preserve were installed with the hope that University of Connecticut students would use it as a quiet space where they can take a break from hectic campus life.

Trail access is 0.1 mile west of the intersection of South Eagleville Road (Route 275) and Separatist Road in Storrs. The entrance is on the north side of South Eagleville Road. The pond in the preserve is a fire pond and the entrance to the driveway must be kept clear for fire trucks so take care to keep the driveway clear.
