The Bougie Trail (red) is the main trail. It is 0.4 miles to a clearing at the highest point of elevation. This trail was once a former logging road and is wide, lined with stone walls and is considered an easy walk for seniors and young children, although it does become hilly towards the end.
The Princess Pine Trail (blue) is 0.7 miles long. On this trail, find lady slippers in June, carpets of ground pine, and dramatic rock outcroppings. This trail requires moderate endurance and agility.
The Laurel Ridge Trail (light blue) is a 0.3 mile challenging trek into the thickets and bowers of mountain laurel. There is a steep, stepping stone climb.
The Brook Trail (yellow) is a 0.2 mile passage through a ravine of glacial rock deposits. The trail crosses over boulder and foot bridge crossings which requires moderate endurance and agility.
The Burnham Trail (orange) is a 0.5 mile trail that is the most physically demanding of all the trails at Peters Woods. It is made up of steep terrain. You will see an abandoned rock quarry and enjoy a long catwalk over the wetlands.
The Spoonwood-Georgia's Trail (green) is a 0.6 mile trail that is accessed from the west at Brickyard Road or from the east at the north side of the Bougie Trail. This is a challenging hike with rock outcroppings. It is named for its abundance of Mountain Laurel called “Spoonwood” by the Native Americans who used it to make spoons.
The trailhead is located off of Valley Road in Clinton. There is limited off road parking - please respect the private driveway. There is also a trailhead on Brickyard Road, but no parking.
