Description

The Scovill Loop Trails consist of three primary trails. The Southern Loop (0.6 mile, Blue-Red) features an old foundation and mill site, as well as views of the Connecticut River. The Northern Loop (1.0 mile, Blue) wanders past Moellers Pond, overlooks Hubbard Brook, and offers a connection to the CT River Beach Trail (Blue-Yellow) that leads to a small beach on the Connecticut River. The Quarry View High Trail (0.5 mile, Blue-White) is the steepest trail and offers a rewarding view of the Connecticut River from its overlook.

The trails are located within the Hubbard Brook Preserve which was permanently protected when Eversource granted a 75-acre conservation restriction to Connecticut Forest and Park Association (CFPA) in 2007. The ensuing partnership between Eversource and CFPA promises to preserve the natural, scenic, aesthetic, and special character of the property. Hubbard Park Preserve offers a protected natural habitat for birds, wildlife, plants, and similar ecosystems.

Other Information

Note: the CT River Beach Trail crosses an active (although rarely used) rail line. Hikers should only cross the tracks at the designated crossing.
