Description

Located in North Stonington and directly connected to the south of Erisman Woodland Preserve is the Babcock Ridge Preserve. Combined, these preserves offer approximately 2.5 miles of total trail and an elevation gain of 335 feet along a wooded ridge. The elevation gain comes sooner when entering via the Babcock Ridge Preserve. The series of interconnected loops (called Babcock, Erisman, and Ridge) offer diverse combinations of hikes along stonewalls, intermittent wetlands, and beautiful ridge vistas. These trails are very well marked with blue and yellow trail heads with occasional signs/postage making for a smooth hiking experience. The Babcock Ridge and Erisman Woodland Preserves are pet friendly (dogs on leash) and moderate in difficulty.  Hiking on these trails offers great bird watching (most notably hawks and blue jays).

Trail Tips

Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces
Stick to established trails and campsites. If there's no trail, try to walk on rock, gravel, or snow and spread out so that your group doesn't create a trail.
