The Mill Pond Way trail is a 3.5 mile loop that winds around the 330-acre Scovill Reservoir steeped in history and natural landmarks. It provides interesting scenes as it passes through deciduous and coniferous forests, over streams, along fields, past high functioning wetlands, and near the reservoir's edge. Along with the 3.5 mile loop, more than 0.5 mile of side and access trails contribute to total.
Those who wish to use the trail may engage in a myriad of activities including walking, running, using exercise stations, biking, paddling, kayaking, and fishing in designated locations along the shore for licensed fishermen. Trail users may also visit the Woodtick Recreation Area which features picnic areas and playing fields. All trail users are expected to adhere to the rules that are posted at each entry point. Swimming is prohibited at this time.
Much of the trail is accessible for strollers, wheelchairs, etc. However, some sections are uneven due to wood stumps, soft or muddy ground, grade, or incline and some gravel sections may be hard to maneuver. Marked accessible parking is currently only available at the Nichols Road and Woodtick Recreation Area parking lots.
There are six access locations that are clearly marked (look for the Mill Pond Way logo signs) allowing for a short walk and return or trekking the full loop. The access locations are marked with parking icons on the map.

There is a dedicated fishing pier at the boat launch at the end of Scovill Road. Fishing is also allowed along the banks of the water along the South side of the reservoir, from the boat launch to where the trail crosses the water along Woodtick Road, and all along the westerly side of the reservoir parallel to Wolf Hill Road. Fishing is further allowed from boats (no internal combustion motors) on the reservoir. CT fishing license required.
The beach at Woodtick Recreation Area is closed for the foreseeable future. SWIMMING IS PROHIBITED AT THIS TIME.

Take Exit 23 for Route 69/Hamilton Road. Head north (towards the Park and Ride) on Hamilton Road and take a right onto Silver Street Expressway. Continue for about 1.1 miles on Meriden Road, then stay left onto Woodtick Road. Follow Woodtick Road for 2.4 miles, then either, for the main parking lot, turn left onto Nichols Road, parking is on the left or for the Mill Pond Way boat launch, continue north on Woodtick Road and take the next left for Scovill Road. Follow to the end of the road. Find additional lots around Scovill Reservoir by following Woodtick Road (behind St. Pius X Parish), Bound Line Road, Coe Road, Munson Road, and Wolf Hill Road.
The Woodtick Recreation Area parking lot is the largest parking lot for Mill Pond Way, located just south of the Scovill Reservoir dam.
