Three sections of multi-use greenway currently exist in Torrington, two of which parallel the Naugatuck River. The greenway includes picnic areas, pocket parks, recreational parks, a dog park, direct access to downtown businesses, and ample parking.
The Torrington Greenway is part of the larger Naugatuck River Greenway Trail that will one day connect 11 communities along the Naugatuck River from Torrington to Derby. Visit the Naugatuck River Greenway website for more information.
From Route 8, take Exit 50 for Route 202 toward Downtown Torrington and follow directions from points east.
Head west on Route 202 towards Downtown Torrington. After crossing under Route 8, take the third left onto Willow Street. Turn right onto Franklin Street and follow to the end of the road. Just before the turn-around, the parking lot is on the right and the Greenway is across the street. Head west onto Franklin Plaza to follow the Naugatuck River Greenway north across Main Street, past the library and along Prospect Street, or head east to follow the Naugatuck River Greenway south along the river.
Head east on Route 202 towards Downtown Torrington. After crossing the Naugatuck River, take the first right onto Center Street, then take a sharp right onto Franklin Street and follow to the end of the road. Just before the turn-around, the parking lot is on the right. The Greenway is across the street. Head west onto Franklin Plaza to follow the Naugatuck River Greenway north across Main Street, past the library and along Prospect Street, or head east to follow the Naugatuck River Greenway south along the river.
The Torrington sections of the Naugatuck River Greenway can also be accessed from other areas, which include public parking alongside Prospect Street, parking at John Toro Sports Complex, and public parking off of E. Albert Street in front of Edward E. Sullivan Senior Center.
