Explore the wooded trails and flood plain forest in northern Riverside Park. Enjoy beautiful views of the Connecticut River, a wide variety of flora and fauna on this off-the-beaten-path 4.6 mile main loop with connecting secondary trails. The marked entrance to the trail is located in historic Riverside Park, on the north side of the boathouse. This gem of a trail in the heart of the capital city is great for hiking, biking, birdwatching, and seasonal snowshoeing and cross country skiing.
Just north of downtown, the Victorian-era Riverside Park is home to the Greater Hartford Jaycees Community Boathouse, Riverfront Recapture's Community Rowing program, and the Riverfront Adventure Challenge Course. Riverside Park amenities include a boat launch, picnic tables and charcoal grills, sand volleyball court, cricket and football fields, playground, fishing access, sculpture installations, drinking fountain, port-o-lets, charcoal grills (these are the only grills allowed to be used in the parks – no personal grills are allowed), and bike racks.
Riverwalk trail system is subject to seasonal flooding. Visit Riverfront Recapture's website for updates on trail conditions.
