Windsor Meadows State Park's trails and facilities are located in its largest and most popular 88-acre south section. This section hosts the Bissell Bridge Boat Launch, fishing and picnicking access, and ADA-accessible trails along the Connecticut River.
The Bissell Bridge Trail connects users to the Captain John Bissell Trail (which can be followed all the way to the Charter Oak Greenway in East Hartford and to the East Coast Greenway beyond!). The Windsor River Trail also begins from the parking area and continues south through quiet riparian forest.
The riparian environment visible on the Windsor River Trail and of the section north of the Bissell Bridge has remained fairly undeveloped and has been in a similar state for centuries.
This park is managed by the following CT DEEP Park Headquarters:
Take Exit 35B for CT-218 toward Windsor/Bloomfield. Turn left onto CT-218 East. In half a mile, turn right onto CT-159 South/Windsor Avenue. Then, in a quarter mile, turn left onto East Barber Street. In half a mile, turn left into the parking area.
Take Exit 34 for CT-159/Windsor Avenue. Turn left onto Meadow Road and then right onto Windsor Avenue. In half a mile, turn right onto East Barber Street. Continue another half mile and then turn left into the parking area.
