Mount Tom State Park offers a combination of mountains and water-front space. The trails have a variety of rock types which people may find interesting. There are quartz veins visible to the side of the trails and gneisses with trees growing on top of them. The tower at the top of the trail is made out of the same type of rocks as the those found on the trail.
The park has direct access to Mount Tom Pond and visitors can scuba dive, boat, swim, or fish.
