The Stoppleworth Conservation Area consists of woodlands, unique geological features, and two brooks that eventually drain to Shenipsit Lake.

Description

The marked trail system include the orange loop trail and the white trail which connects to the Campbell’s Peaceful Valley Conservation Area with its own trail system. Stoppleworth Conservation Area is abundant in wildlife such as deer, birds, and of course squirrels.

The Aborn Homestead has been preserved along with a posted history of the Stoppleworth Farm. This homestead is just to the right of the parking area.

  • Leave no trace.
  • No fires.
  • No hunting or firearms.
  • Closed from sunset to sunrise.
  • Mountain biking allowed, except in bog.

Trailhead Information

From I-84

From I-84, take Exit 68 and turn north on Route 195 towards Tolland center. Bear left onto Route 74 past Tolland center, then turn take a right onto Burbank Road. Bear right onto Peter Green Road and then bear right onto Hunter Road. The trail entrance is on the left just little past Campbell's Peaceful Valley Conservation Area.

From 140

From Route 140 in Crystal Lake, take South Road and continue on Hunter Road for about 1 mile. Trail entrance is on the right.

Parking

Limited off-road parking is available on the west side of Hunter Road, about 1 mile south of Crystal Lake, just north of Campbell's Peaceful Valley Conservation Area.
